Pier 17 Color Block Party Recap

On Saturday June 30th we marked the opening of the brand-new Pier 17 Heineken® Riverdeck and River Lounge with a spectacular Color Block Party and the unveiling of Geronimo’s huge – and newly commissioned - balloon sculpture.

The all-day event encouraged guests to dress “their colorful best” and we were not disappointed. From floral patterns, to neons, to clashing colors, to glitter and green lipstick… Pier 17 was a sea of color. The best outfits scooped prizes, from drinks tickets to Pier 17 Rooftop Concert tickets.

At noon, DJ Morsy took the stage and the early-bird party-goers took to the dancefloor. Others caught some rays and sipped on a Jungle Bird Spritz at the chilled-out River Lounge while kids big and small got competitive over cornhole on the Heineken® Riverdeck.

By late afternoon the pier was providing some welcome shade from the 90 degrees sun but the party really heated up as Brittany Sky took to the deck. Half an hour into her set she had most of the crowd doing the Cha-Cha Slide on the Heineken® Riverdeck.

Later in the evening, it was time for Geronimo to make her grand entrance. The beat of drums could be heard in the distance, and all eyes turned to the pier entrance as a parade - that included colorful human balloons, Brooklyn United Marching Band, and Geronimo herself - energetically burst onto the deck while headliners Cut Copy DJs spun Daft Punk on the decks.

Thanks for everyone who joined us – you made the day one to remember.

The Heineken® Riverdeck and River Lounge are open daily from 11am-11pm.

Geronimo’s sculpture is on view through September.
